Portobello market & shabu-shabu

2 Jul

A little sad that my favourite stall, a Japanese lady who sells vintage kimonos at Portobello market, was on holiday, but it was nice to discover new stalls with really interesting jewellery and headbands. Also, buying fresh fruit from the food stalls is such a pleasure. The cherries were absolutely delicious. Yumyumyum.

Lunch

We ate standing up at the food part of Portobello market outside American Apparel. So classy. My original intention was to have felafel, but the big vats of stew at the Ghanaian stand stopped me. I liked the chicken and aubergine stew with plantain, but wasn’t that much of a fan of the spinach dish.

– Chicken with aubergine, spinach with, plantain
– Some nibbles of M’s felafel
– Cherries & strawberries

Afternoon thirst-quencher

Calamansi bubble tea with added QQ jelly.

Dinner

After some major food-shopping at Whole Foods, we opted to have dinner upstairs so we wouldn’t have to lug our bags around. The dashi stock was virtually tasteless, and we could have done with more vegetables. Still, it was nice to have something light for dinner after last night’s curry.
