Every so often, one needs a spot of afternoon tea. I went with an old primary school friend, whom I recently reconnected with after many years. We spent a leisurely Saturday afternoon after wandering around the ballgowns exhibition at the V&A (I appear to be most drawn to the gowns from the ’60s), catching up and finding out we had so many similarities in life.
Scones are the main event when it comes to tea. The mini-scones were so cute, but tasted too dense and cakey for my liking. The pineapple jam was a slightly different touch, but I’m traditional when it comes to this sort of thing. Strawberry jam will always be best with scones.
Such a pretty plate! The blackforest gateau was delicious, and you can never go wrong with macarons.
